Hermitage of ‘San Miguel’
Length: 5,5 km (round trip)
The route departs from kilometre 13.2 of the Valderrobres A-1414 road to Fuentespalda, on the other side of the campsite. Take a path that starts near a metal sign showing the name of the hermitage, which is perfectly visible from the village, 200 metres away.
Among cereals, grapevines and almond trees, we have outstanding views of Fuentespalda, with the medieval lookout tower especially prominent. The path continues through agricultural holdings and local cattle. Take the paved road following the hermitage and PR signs. The path goes into an area of thick pines some 1.5 km away from the village. After a sharp rise, but not too difficult due to the zigzag, we reach ‘la ermita de San Miguel’ surrounded by cypresses.
The outer features are worth admiring, as they are full of historical surprises. Another path leads from the front side of the hermitage, and has run along a cobbled path since time immemorial. You’ll get to Fuentespalda in just a few minutes.
