Historical places

The Matarraña region has 5 towns that have been declared Historic-Artistic Sites:  Beceite, Calaceite, La Fresneda, Ráfales y Valderrobres.

The most outstanding elements are stone stately homes, Gothic, Baroque and Renaissance churches, the remains of walls, Town Halls that showcase the quality of civil architecture in Matarraña, crosses, hermitages, portals that defended the towns long ago and cobbled streets.

The Levantine cave paintings in the Matarraña region have been declared a World Heritage Site. The following examples of such art can be found in the region: ‘La Fenellassa’ in Beceite, ‘La Roca dels Moros’ and ‘Els Gascons’ in Cretas.
