Ruta de las Cárceles’ (Prisons Road)
Cultural trip to the ancient prisons of the region, passing through nine of Matarraña’s town that have jails dating from the 16th and 18th centuries. Most of the prisons are located in the ground floors of town halls and are very small with no ventilation. Chains, lugs, traps, doors and paintings can be found within their walls.

- Cretas Prisons: Located in the main square. Free entrance.
- La Fresneda Prison: Call 622 698 455 to visit by appointment. Guided tour of two prisons, €3 per person. Free tour for a single prison, €1 per person (Tourist Office opening hours). Further information
- Fórnoles Prison: Located in the ground floor of the Town Hall. Open access, opening the prison door. Free entrance.
- Fuentespalda Prison: all 630 887 559 to visit by appointment. Price: €8 per person including prison tour and ‘Coveta de l’Aigua’ (caves). Duration: 2 hours. Further information
- Mazaleón Prison: Open during Town Hall opening hours. Monday – Friday (not on bank holidays) from 11:00 to 14:00. Further information
- Monroyo Prison: Located in the street. Free entrance, open the door. Further information
- Peñarroya de Tastavins Prison: Call 978 89 66 67 to visit by appointment. Price: €1 per person (under 12 years old, free), over 15 people €20.50 per group. Duration: 15 minutes. Further information
- Ráfales Prison: Located on the ground floor of the Town Hall. Free entrance by opening the prison door. Further information
- Torre de Arcas Prison: Open during Town Hall opening hours. Monday – Friday (not on bank holidays) from 10:00 to 14:00. Further information
