Valjunquera-Mas del Labrador-Valdeltormo
Dificulty level: moderate
Length: 18,6 km (rount trip)
Height difference: 120m
Leave Valjunquera through ancient threshing plants, among dry stone walls and agricultural landscapes. In the first part of the trail, go along cattle roads and pass along the old Tortosa – Alcañiz train line, which hasn’t been used as a railway since 1973 and has been converted into a Vía Verde (Val de Zafán).
The middle stretch is characterized by an almost constant descent to the ravine before ‘Mas del Labrador’. Get there on a cobbled road. This village was an important population hub with a chapel and several buildings until the 1950s. Nowadays, it is almost abandoned and it has been used as a film set for Spanish Civil War films.
Get to the N-240 road (km 405) and cross it through a grooved underpass. Take a forest track and ascend a strong path across several crop fields in the municipality of Valdeltormo.
The final stretch is a slight descent, 100 m of height difference in less than 3 kilometres. Pass by some agricultural areas, especially non-irrigated crops (olive, almond and vine) and arrive in the upper part of the village of Valdeltormo.
