Peach
The peaches grown in the region of Matarraña are protected by the designation of origin ‘Melocotón de Calanda’, and belong to the late yellow variety of the Prunus persica species.
A traditional individual-bagging technique is used for the production of this unique fruit in July and August. This procedure provides special protection against pests, thereby obtaining a healthier and cleaner product in the mid-September and October harvest.
The sweet and fleshy fruit is grown on the banks of the River Matarraña on 497 hectares of irrigated land, mostly in Valdeltormo and Mazaleón.
