PORTAL CAPILLA DE SAN ROQUE
This is an ancient portal wall built in honour of San Roque, the protector against epidemics and diseases on account of the plague that Cretas suffered in the 17th century.
PORTAL CAPILLA DE SAN ANTONIO PADUA
The portal in the old wall changed function in 18th century, when a chapel financed by the Turull family was added to it. The street where it stands was known as ‘la Sansa’ because of a mill.
CASA TURULL
A stately home dated from 1746 in possession of the Turull family that was famed for making church organs. They were also in charge of creating outstanding buildings in Cretas. Casa Turull has an impressive balcony supported by decorated corbels with carotid figures.
CALLE MAYOR
This important street is situated in the urban centre of Cretas, and can be accessed under the arch in ‘Casa Sapera’, dating from the 15th century, and leads to Plaza Mayor. It is flanked by beautiful windows and pointed arches that lead into other streets.
IGLESIA DE LA ASUNCIÓN
This church is a Gothic-Renaissance stone construction with a single nave and side chapels between the buttresses. The oratories are covered with starry or ribbed vaults. It was built over one of the ancient portals in the 16th century, thereby breaking the old wall structure.
PLAZA MAYOR
This square was built as part of the amplification of the town centre in the 15th and 16th centuries. Since 1962, there has been a column in the centre, although it dates from 16th century and features the village coat of arms and was used as a pillory to execute prisoners.
