We can trace the history of the municipality from the Vila Vella, a Roman settlement from the 1st to the 3rd centuries, through its Arab past, its dependence on the bishopric of Zaragoza from 1175 and its subsequent judicial independence after 1232.
Over the centuries, this town has withstood change and conflict, and its rural character endures in an impressive natural setting.
