Town hall of Fuentespalda

The town hall (casa consistorial) of Fuentespalda, built in the late 16th century, stands out for its austere yet noble style, in contrast to other town halls of the period that featured more elaborate decoration. The more sober appearance of its façade was likely influenced by the historical and cultural factors of the time.

The growing separation between municipal and ecclesiastical power, together with Fuentespalda's geographical distance from the aesthetic influences of other cities such as Zaragoza or Alcañiz, contributed to the functional and simple appearance of the building.

Over the centuries, the building withstood historical events such as the Napoleonic wars, the Carlist Wars and the Spanish Civil War, with only minor renovations and without suffering significant damage. Inside, it houses a valuable historical archive with documents dating from the 13th century, not only from Fuentespalda but also from other localities of the feudal domain of Valderrobres. In 2002, it was granted the status of Listed Building, and continues to function as the centre of municipal government to this day.
