Our origins date back to the Middle Ages, around 1210 or 1220, when a small hamlet was established beside an ancient fortified tower, possibly built by Ramón Berenguer IV, Count of Barcelona and Prince of Aragon, on a frontier land bordering Islam. This "Torre del Conde" was the foundation upon which the community of the first Christian families was built, who came from Aragonese and Catalan lands.

For centuries, we formed part of the tenencia de Valderrobres, conquered by Alfonso II of Aragon in 1168. In 1175, the king donated this territory to the bishop of Zaragoza, who sub-enfeoffed it to Fortún Robert for resettlement.
