Route description
We leave Valjunquera past old threshing floors, surrounded by dry-stone walls and dry-land agricultural landscapes. In the first part of the route we cross fields of almond trees, olive trees and cereal crops. We stop at the Mas del Labrador — an old farmhouse converted into a restaurant serving traditional local cuisine — and then continue the descent towards Valdeltormo.
The middle section is characterised by an almost constant descent to the ravine before the Mas del Labrador, which we also reach along a drovers' lane. Access to the Mas is via a paved track, opposite which is a turn-off to the Salt de la Portellada waterfall.
After crossing the N-240 road (at km 405) through a curious channelled underpass, we head along a steep uphill section on a forest track. We pass through a zone of Mediterranean forest — pine and holm oak — with excellent panoramic views of Valdeltormo and the Matarraña river.
The final part is a gentle descent, some 100 m drop over just under 3 km. We pass through several agricultural areas, mainly dry-land farming (olive trees and almond trees), until we arrive in Valdeltormo.
