Dry stone, the art of building the landscape
Dry stone construction is one of the most representative elements of the Matarraña landscape. Walls, terraces, huts, and corrals, built solely with stone and without mortar, reflect the knowledge and effort of generations who adapted to the land. This heritage, perfectly integrated into the landscape, constitutes a valuable cultural legacy and an example of sustainable traditional architecture. In 2018, the dry stone technique was recognized by UNESCO as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
