Ascent to the Mola de Lino
A demanding hiking route to one of the finest viewpoints in the Puertos de Beceite mountains. An 8.6 km trail with 580 metres of elevation gain through Mediterranean vegetation, bare rock and panoramic views over the Ulldemo and Algars valleys.
A fascinating ascent to one of the best viewpoints in the Matarrana region and the Puertos de Beceite mountain range. The summit of Mola de Lino features a long ridge where it is hard to pinpoint the highest point, as two or three peaks are very similar in height. Near the Mas de Lino there are old abandoned terraced fields. Throughout the walk it is easy to spot Spanish ibex with their impressive horns, so typical of the Puertos de Beceite, as well as wild boar, golden eagles and griffon vultures.
The route is linear, covering 8.6 km, and is marked with white and yellow signs as a PR (short-distance trail). The difficulty is high, with an approximate duration of three hours return. The climb is constant, with an elevation gain of 580 metres.
The trail is strikingly beautiful, winding through rosemary, pine, holm oak, thyme, holly, yew, maple, boxwood, juniper and bare rock. It is well worth pausing to take in the sea of mountains dominated by the Barranco de la Llosa ravine. At the highest point, 1,200 metres above sea level, you can enjoy views of the Ulldemo river valley to the right and the Algars to the left, as well as an excellent panorama of the Puertos de Beceite area.
