Museums and leisure centres of Matarrana

The Matarrana region boasts a wide cultural offer covering diverse themes through which we can explore different cultural aspects of the territory.

There are centres dedicated to illustrious figures, such as the Juan Cabre Museum in Calaceite, devoted to the life and work of this pioneering archaeologist, or the Braulio Foz Interpretation Centre in Fornoles, located in the birthplace of the author of the well-known Vida de Pedro Saputo.

Centres related to traditional crafts include the El Masmut Ethnological Centre, the Pork Interpretation Centre in Penaroya de Tastavins, the Bread Oven of Torre de Arcas, and the Moli de l'Hereu Olive Oil Museum in Rafales.

Others help us learn about history and cultural heritage, such as the Casa dels Delmes in Mazaleon, the 'Lo Roser' Gothic Centre, the Aragonese Rural Housing Park in Penaroya de Tastavins, the Medieval Cemetery and La Torreta in Fuentespalda, which form part of the Prison Route, together with the Mazaleon prison and La Fresneda, where prisoners' graffiti is still preserved on the walls. La Fresneda also has an exhibition of archaeological material.

To explore the Iberian period, visit the visitor centres of the Iberian Route in Cretas, Mazaleon or Valdeltormo. For more recent history, the Historical Memory Centre of Valjunquera, the Post-War Interpretation Centre of Torre del Compte or the Antigua Fabrica Noguera in Beceite. The Valderrobres Museum takes you through the different artistic styles of the regional heritage. Notable too is 'Inhospitak' Territorio Dinopolis in Penaroya de Tastavins, where a replica of the Tastavinosaurus is on display.

There are also nature-oriented spaces such as the Botanical Garden of Rafales or the 'Mas de Bunol' Bird Watching Centre.
