Route description
A spectacular and demanding route, but with no technical difficulty, from the BTT Sector - Peñarroya1300. "Coll" means pass or long ascent, and this Coll de La Barraca is one of the best examples. This route requires a physical effort, but overcoming its pass will reward us with beautiful views and a magical descent through the woodland of the Caldú ravine.
The starting point is the 'StartPoint-Peñarroya1300', located next to the car park on Calle Aragón, at the entrance to the town of Peñarroya de Tastavins. The itinerary heads to the main track of the route, after passing a picnic area and a crossroads that leads to the Coll de Borla. On this stretch, the enduro part of the route begins, with 3 km of fun trail through the heart of the Peñas de Masmut. The track that runs alongside the Arroyo dels Prats reaches, at km 8, the Toll del Assut de Taquio, a perfect place in summer to cool off and gather energy for the 11 km of climbing up to a spectacular natural viewpoint (just after the post indicating the start of the black route).
The route continues along a flat stretch, which will become somewhat tough as you cross one of the largest plateaus of Els Ports at altitudes between 1,250 m and 1,280 m; the views on this stretch are impressive. Another turn-off leads to a magical descent; here the rider will find a final stretch of trails (ideal for getting started in enduro) until connecting with the Mas de Caldú. From there, after 2 km of climbing, a rugged but clearly descending profile leads to Peñarroya de Tastavins via a beautiful entrance in its southeastern part, crossing the Parque Aragonés de la Vivienda and a lovely wander through the town's streets.
