Route description
The route begins beside the road coming from Valderrobres, the A-1414 — on our right heading towards Fuentespalda — at km 13.2, on the other side of the Fuentespalda municipal campsite. We take a track that starts with a metal sign bearing the name of the hermitage, which is clearly visible above the village, situated about 200 m away. Among vineyards, almond trees and cereal crops, this area affords beautiful panoramic views of Fuentespalda, dominated by its medieval watchtower.
Along the way, in addition to the farmland, we will encounter signs of the area's rich livestock farming tradition. We cover several stretches of asphalted track, always keeping the hermitage and the PR waymarks in sight. About 1.5 km from the starting point, the path enters an area of dense pine forest.
After a steep climb, made more manageable by the track's zigzag course, we reach our destination: the hermitage of San Miguel, surrounded by beautiful cypress trees. It is well worth taking a close look at the exterior details of the church, full of historical surprises. From the front of the hermitage begins a waymarked path that, descending along an ancient cobbled track, leads us in just a few minutes to the centre of Fuentespalda.
