Route description
The section of the GR8 through the Matarraña region covers a total of 70 km.
The GR-8 trail passes through the Matarraña region; the path is marked with the colours white and red, and links the municipalities of Ulldecona, La Senia, Beceite, Fuentespalda, Peñarroya de Tastavins, Aguaviva, Las Planas de Castellote, Bordón, Tronchón, Mirambel, Cantavieja, Fornatete, Valdelinares, Alcalá de la Selva, Mora de Rubielos, Valbona, La Puebla de Valverde, and in the GR8.1 variant with Las Planas de Castellote, La Algecira, Cuevas de Cañart, Molinos, Ejulve, Villarluengo, Pitarque, Cañada de Benatanduz; and in the GR8.2 variant Cantavieja, La Iglesuela del Cid, La Cuba and Mirambel.
The GR-8 connects with other GR trails: in Ulldecona with the GR-92, the one that runs along the Mediterranean; the GR-7 at the Font Ferrera Refuge located in the Puertos de Beceite; in Camarena de la Sierra with the GR-10, the path that links Valencia with Lisbon; and in Mora de Rubielos and La Puebla de Valverde with the GR-160.
