The olive oil of the Matarraña region, protected by the DO «Aceite del Bajo Aragón», is an extra virgin oil from the Empeltre and Arbequina varieties. Its cultivation, processing and bottling take place within the comarca.

The olive oil produced in Matarraña County is protected by the Denominación de Origen «Aceite del Bajo Aragón».
It is an extra virgin olive oil made primarily from olives of the Empeltre variety, and to a lesser extent Arbequina.
Cultivation, processing, bottling and marketing are carried out within the comarca itself.
The area devoted to olive groves currently covers around 37,000 hectares within the designation of origin zone.
History and regulation
On 23 June 1999, the Regulatory Council of the Denominación de Origen of the Aceite del Bajo Aragón was created, guaranteeing the quality of the product and its economic and social importance.
Social and environmental importance
The olive grove fulfils a key social, economic and environmental role, forming part of the landscape since time immemorial.

Cooperativa de Aceite del Matarraña
The Cooperativa de Aceites del Matarraña, S.C.L. is a first-degree cooperative founded in 1988. It was formed with members from the base cooperatives of the villages of Arens de Lledó, Calaceite, and Cretas. Subsequently, members from the cooperatives of Torre del Compte, La Fresneda, and La Portellada also joined. The Cooperativa de Aceites del Matarraña, S.C.L. operates within the Designation of Origin of Bajo Aragón, ensuring the quality of the oils produced. The cooperative's activity consists of receiving olives in order to produce and market the oil and olives of its members. The cooperative offers guided tours of its oil mill by prior booking. Deméter de Tastavins. Tel·lúric
Deméter de Tastavins was founded in 2007 and began its organic farming activity cultivating olive, almond and vine. A few years later it registered the Tel·lúric brand and built a winery on the estate where it produces certified organic wine from its own vineyards. All activities respect the ecosystem, and the products reflect the territory: the terraced fields lie between 600 and 700 metres in altitude. The combination of climate, microclimate, soil, and grape, olive and almond varieties gives the Tel·lúric products their distinctive character.
