Valjunquera: the archive of historical memory of the Matarraña

Strategically located on the Plaza de las Inauguraciones in Valjunquera, the Interpretation centre for Historical Memory invites visitors on a deep journey through time. This museum space is a fundamental pillar for preserving the cultural and social legacy of the Matarraña region.

Inside, the museum houses an exceptional archive of more than 3,000 images that tell the story of the Matarraña from the late 19th century to the 1960s. These carefully preserved photographs offer an intimate perspective on the transformations, customs and traditions that have shaped the identity of the region over more than half a century.

Visitors are welcomed by a large black-and-white mural, a striking work that immediately immerses them in an evocative past. Through its representations, one can discover the lives, trades and festivities of the inhabitants of the Comarca del Matarraña, providing a rich and detailed understanding of their daily life. The museum also reveals a unique geological curiosity: the rock on which the historic parish church of the village stands.
