Town hall of Valjunquera

The building currently houses the town hall of Valjunquera, and adjoins the apse of the parish church, on the epistle side. Its original use is unknown, but it is known that it had previously served as the parish house. When the town council moved here, there was an exchange of functions between this building and the former town hall, which is now used as a Casa Cultural.

In 1913, some alterations were made to the building when the schools were built at the rear. On the façade of the schools, several openings can be seen that were an extension of the original council building.

On the ground floor of the building there is a large entrance hall reminiscent of manor houses. In this hall there is a wall that looks like an exterior wall, with a stone bench and two voussoir round arches leading to rooms that used to serve as jail cells. From the ground floor, two thick columns rise up to the roof and support the main structure of the building.

This construction is very solid and is built entirely of ashlar masonry. On the façade, noteworthy features include an empty niche that used to house the chapel of Santa Ana and narrow windows with round arches.
