Iron bridge of Valderrobres

The iron bridge represents a feat of contemporary engineering, conceived to function as the second access route to the town of Valderrobres, complementing the historic San Roque bridge. Its design is markedly modern, characterised by a horizontal deck and an asphalt surface that facilitates vehicular traffic.

This imposing structure stands over the bed of the Matarraña River, using iron as its main material. Particularly striking are its two tall open-work semi-circular structures, which rest on robust iron pillars. These semi-circular forms create quadrangular spaces along the bridge, reinforced by 'X'-shaped tie rods that provide not only structural stability but also a distinctive aesthetic appeal.

For the safety of pedestrians and vehicles, the bridge is fitted with a sturdy railing running along its sides. Made up of iron bars arranged horizontally, this railing not only ensures protection but also adds a stylised touch to the architectural ensemble, blending harmoniously into the riverside landscape of Valderrobres.
