A multifaceted interpretation centre in the Matarraña
Inaugurated in 2015 by the Fundación Valderrobres Patrimonial, the Museum and Interpretation centre of Valderrobres stands as a fundamental pillar of the town's tourist and cultural offering. Its objectives are multiple and far-reaching, designed to enrich the visitor experience and preserve the local heritage.
Tourist complement and guardian of heritage
The museum offers a detailed vision of Valderrobres and the Matarraña region, complementing the already extensive tourist offering with contextualised and in-depth information. It also acts as a noble custodian, housing generous donations from benefactors who have chosen to contribute to the village's heritage. These donations take the form of permanent exhibitions of works and collections, ensuring that the memory of Valderrobres and its people across the centuries remains alive and accessible. It is a diverse space, designed for the enjoyment and learning of both residents and visitors.
What artistic and cultural treasures does the Valderrobres Museum hold?
In the museum you can find a wide range of works and collections by different artists connected to Valderrobres. These include the sculpture of Carlos Orona, a self-taught sculptor from Valderrobres inspired by his village. Also on display are ship models from the 17th and 18th centuries made by Manuel Sanches Tallada, as well as Christmas models and dioramas created by José Luis Catalá. In addition, the museum presents iconic pieces related to the life and work of one of Valderrobres' most illustrious daughters, Elvira de Hidalgo. The collection is completed by regional and period costumes donated by collector Sebastián Moreno.
