Parque Marta: a peaceful retreat with history in Valdeltormo

Parque Marta in Valdeltormo is a testament to local transformation and memory. Formerly known as La Basobera, it was one of three ponds vital to the village, alongside the Balsa de San Roque and La Rebasa.

Located at the opposite end of the urban centre, La Basobera received its water from a channel coming from the area of the "Castillo". Although historically its water was considered of lesser quality than that of San Roque, its function was equally essential. Today, this former pond has been beautifully converted into a park, a place of leisure and meeting for residents and visitors. The name "Parque Marta" is a moving tribute to the wife of a local resident, who financed its construction in her memory, thus perpetuating her memory in the heart of the village.

Ponds and springs like those of Valdeltormo were, in times past, crucial components for the life of communities. They provided water not only for human consumption but also for livestock and the maintenance of agriculture, the economic pillars of the region.
