The Oil Museum is located inside the tourist establishment Molí de l'Hereu. The Town Council restored the former oil mill, which operated until the 1970s. This mill played a dominant role in the local economy of the time, as it concentrated all the village's olive oil production. The museum preserves the original machinery: the millstones, numerous tools, the old presses (a screw press and a hydraulic press), vats, settling tanks, and the remaining components of the oil presses. Of the two presses, the older one (18th century) is the beam press, which used human or animal power to apply pressure through an enormous 13-metre wooden beam — said to be the largest in Spain. The other press, more modern, is hydraulic and was powered by a two-stroke kerosene engine. One of the defining features of this museum is that in both settings (18th century and 20th century) the oil mill is complete, making it very easy to understand and imagine how it worked and to follow the entire production process. Explanatory panels guide visitors through the complete process of producing the traditional olive oil of the area.
