Who we are in the Matarraña

A journey through the history, culture and landscape of a unique region situated between the Iberian System and the Mediterranean.

Heart of the Matarraña

Matarraña County is defined by the union of its 18 villages, each with its own identity yet sharing a common heritage. Valderrobres stands as the administrative capital, while Calaceite holds the title of cultural capital.

Shared capital

Valderrobres and Calaceite lead the region, balancing administrative governance with the cultural and architectural richness that characterises the 'Aragonese Tuscany'.

A relief sculpted by nature

Located in the north-eastern corner of Teruel, our region is an eminently mountainous territory where the foothills of the Iberian System and the Catalan coastal ranges converge.

The Puertos de Beceite massif and the Rocas del Masmut

The landscape reaches its most dramatic expression in the Puertos de Beceite massif, with peaks approaching 1,400 metres in altitude. Together with the imposing Rocas del Masmut in Peñarroya de Tastavins, these settings form one of the most spectacular scenic ensembles in Aragon.
