Salt de la Portellada
A spectacular waterfall on the Tastavins River, hidden between rock faces sculpted by the water.
The Salt de la Portellada is a natural waterfall on the Tastavins River, a tributary of the Matarraña. The water drops about 20 metres over a rocky setting where erosion has sculpted singular shapes, especially in the upper part of the falls.
Its flow is seasonal and depends directly on rainfall: in dry years it may disappear entirely, while in spring or after storms the waterfall becomes spectacular.
How to get there
From La Portellada, take the TE-V-3004 road towards Valderrobres and, after 500 metres, a signposted turn onto a forest track leads to the car park. From there, a short trail (about 15 minutes on foot) leads down to the falls. The full return journey is approximately 4 km and takes around one hour.
Recommendations
- Wear hiking footwear: the final stretch descends over uneven ground.
- Take care on wet rocks near the falls.
- Respect the riverbed and riparian vegetation: this is a natural space with no facilities.
