Remains of the castle

Castle-fortress of Arab origin. The remains of the tower and walls belonging to the old castle survive, the habitual residence of the commander for centuries. Preserved are the remains of a square cube of rubble masonry belonging to the Tower of Homage, accessed by a spiral staircase, a corner of ashlar masonry and a brick window on one of the curtain walls. The plan is C-shaped; the first floor, used as living quarters, would have had a cloister. On the main façade, the doorway retains a coat of arms of the Order of Calatrava and various commanders. The whole ensemble would have been crowned with battlements.
