Olivera de les Planes

From La Fresneda, take the TE-V-3001 road towards Torre del Compte. About 600 metres along on the right, you will find a track and there, at the side of the old road, stands this olive tree.

This specimen is part of a spectacular group of olive trees located in the locality of Les Planes, from where a large green swathe of olive trees can be seen with the village of La Fresneda in the background, whose Conjunto Histórico-Artístico (listed historic ensemble) is declared a Bien de Interés Cultural (BIC, Spanish heritage listing), among which its Baroque church, the Renaissance town hall with its "lonja" (porticoed hall), the arcades of the calle Mayor and its manor houses stand out.... It is of the Empeltre (olive variety) and its age is estimated at 665 years. It is a vigorous specimen with a robust trunk that forks into two branches at 2 metres, with a third branch cut off visible.
