La Fresneda Prison

Several prisons were built in La Fresneda, all of which are open to the public. The first is located on the town's main street, next to the town hall. Although it needs some conservation work, it is in good condition and retains a room with a barred window, believed to have been the jailer's quarters.

From this dungeon, a built-in staircase leads to a mezzanine connected by a small but thick wooden door to a seven-meter-deep well. The well is divided into two levels separated by a stone roof with an opening at the bottom for accessing the lower level. This is where the prisoners were held, giving an idea of the harsh conditions they had to endure.

Another of the town's jails is located in the La Fresneda town hall. This cell occupies the ground floor and has been recently restored, remaining in excellent condition. It is believed to be even older than the one on Calle Mayor. Inside, hundreds of drawings, engravings, and inscriptions are preserved on the floor and walls, as well as the original latrines.
