Route description
The trailhead sign is located approximately 1 km from Torre del Compte, at the side of the TE-V-3001 road, which connects with the N-420 towards Calaceite or Valdeltormo. The route begins on a terrain of pine forest with cultivated terraces.
We pass through a dense forest where surprises await, such as crossing above an old tunnel of the aforementioned railway line, today converted into the Greenway known as Val de Zafán. After a stretch of cobbled path — an old drovers' lane or paved road — we arrive at high plateaus covered in centuries-old olive trees. The cultivation of olives and the production of olive oil are evident throughout much of this route.
We advance towards Cretas through areas where woodland and dry-land crops (olive, vine, almond) alternate. We pass alongside numerous farmsteads, most of them still in use — if not as permanent residences, then related to the agricultural and livestock activities that are so important in this part of the Matarraña.
After crossing lush ravine areas and once again passing along cobbled tracks — drovers' lanes — we reach a well-maintained forest road. We take it to the right and, without straying from the main road, arrive in Cretas, a charming village full of beautiful corners.
