How to get there
Close to the village of Calaceite, take the cemetery path, which starts from the N-420 road opposite the Polígono Industrial 'Las Lagunas'. You will see a fork and take the right-hand path, then immediately the left-hand one, and about 300 metres further on you will find this centuries-old olive tree.
This is one of the oldest Empeltre (olive variety) olive trees in the comarca, with an estimated age of around 853 years. Despite this, it is a vigorous specimen, with a robust trunk featuring a large hollow at its base and a dense canopy. It stands in the Pedrera locality, from which you can appreciate the green patches created by the olive grove landscape of terraced plots of century-old olive trees bordered by dry stone walls. It is very close to Calaceite, whose Conjunto Histórico-Artístico (listed historic ensemble) is declared a Bien de Interés Cultural (BIC, Spanish heritage listing), made up of its Baroque church, Renaissance town hall, ashlar masonry manor houses... a great heritage wealth born of the expansion of olive oil cultivation in the 18th century.
