Explore the architectural richness of Casa-Lonja Els Calderers in Calaceite, a building that blends history and distinctive design with an impressive facade.
The distinctive architecture of Casa-Lonja Els Calderers
The building is characterised by its singular architecture in the heart of Calaceite. It is constructed over a notable atrium formed by three arches: two round arches and a third pointed arch. The main entrance of the building features a doorway with a slightly pointed round arch.
The ground floor of the building, of great solidity, is built in ashlar masonry, a technique that uses carefully cut stone blocks. From the first floor onwards, the construction shifts to high-quality rubble masonry, using irregular stones with mortar.
On the upper floor, balconies with wrought-iron grilles add an aesthetic touch, along with a front window with a conopial lintel that enhances the facade. The attic houses rectangular windows with moulded sills. All the openings in the building, without exception, are framed in ashlar masonry, which gives its design exceptional cohesion and architectural beauty.
