Casa Ferrer: an architectural gem of Calaceite

Located at number 8, Calle Mayor, Casa Ferrer is an impressive large-scale building that rises between party walls in the heart of Calaceite. Its facade, built entirely in ashlar masonry, is elegantly distributed across four floors, each with distinctive architectural features worth exploring.

The ground floor is distinguished by two simple round-arch doorways that invite you inside, accompanied by a window with a magnificent wrought-iron grille, a fine example of local craftsmanship.

On the first floor, a central balcony features an elegant moulded ashlar corbel projection and a decorative wrought-iron grille. On either side, two symmetrical lateral windows complement the composition, maintaining the harmony of the whole.

The second floor is notable for its three balconies of similar size, though with subtly different designs that bring dynamism to the facade. The lateral balconies have a multilinear plan, while the central balcony opts for a rectangular plan. All feature a moulded stone projection and wrought-iron grilles with carefully crafted decoration in their central section. The six openings on these two floors are framed by false arches composed of moulded consoles, creating an attractive visual effect.

Finally, the attic of Casa Ferrer stands out for its four simple openings, a sundial, a stone gargoyle and, majestically crowning the entire building, an imposing carved stone cornice that completes this architectural work with great distinction.
