The last Gothic remnant of the old parish church
The church of Nuestra Señora de la Asunción is one of the many examples in the Matarraña of Baroque churches that in the 17th and 18th centuries replaced earlier Gothic buildings. From the original Gothic construction, the keystone of the apsidal vault has survived, depicting Nuestra Señora del Pla, a highly naturalistic and anecdotal image of the Virgin and Child accompanied by a dog.

This keystone is preserved in the town hall of Calaceite, where it is displayed as a testimony to the old Gothic parish church that preceded the Baroque building visible today.
