Olivera Mas d'en Gerra

This olive tree is located on the Ruta de los Túmulos funerarios del Matarraña (PR-TE-200), whose path begins 3 kilometres from the village of Cretas, on the A-1413 road that runs from Cretas to Calaceite. After travelling approximately one and a half kilometres along an agricultural track from the road, you will find this catalogued olive tree.

The route of the Iberian burial mounds (7th–6th centuries BC) winds through cultivated fields and allows you to discover funerary monuments of megalithic character, composed of a cist made of stone slabs and a circular ring of stones that gives it a drum-like shape. At the end of the route, very close to the Mas d'en Gerra, stands an enormous holm oak beneath which there are grabados rupestres on a rocky platform from which a spring flows. Near these grabados also stands this majestic centenary olive tree, whose age is estimated at around 712 years. It is a specimen of enormous dimensions with a massive and slender trunk, which at a height of 1.5 metres forks into two large 'cimales'.
